While I was making the banner for the blog, I realized a similarity between the Category 5 hurricanes in 2005 and the Sixth generation of Morning Musume.
Similarity: Emily had been used multiple times, while Katrina had been used just twice prior; and Rita and Wilma were never used. Similarly, Miki was already well known when the 6th gen debuted, but Eri and Sayumi weren’t known at all, and Reina was somewhat known from being in the 5th generation auditions.
This equation would mean:
Emily = Miki Fujimoto
Katrina = Reina Tanaka
Rita & Wilma = Eri Kamei & Sayumi Michishige
